Kathryn Estes
Joyous Rhapsody Music Studio would like to introduce Kathryn Estes as its co-director. Mrs. Estes is a cellist, pianist, and guitarist and has taught private lessons, string ensemble, and music theory since 1999. Mrs. Estes is involved in regular teacher training, takes private lessons to improve her own musicianship, and regularly attends workshops on teaching, music therapy, cello, and piano.
Mrs. Estes is a cellist in the Kingwood Pops Orchestra, Symphony North of Houston, and the Conroe Symphony Orchestra. She also participates in both solo and ensemble performances with various area churches. In high school she played with the distinguished Virtuosi of Houston. She has traveled to Eastern Europe and China performing with the Sam Houston State University Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the SHSU Chamber Players. Since 1999 she has regularly played with Joyous Rhapsody's string ensemble at weddings, AARP dinners, church functions, at nursing homes, and for other special occasions. The group has performed for the NASA astronaut holiday banquet, Home School Stars Banquet, The Singing Men of Texas, and for Rosemarie Trapp (of the Von Trapp family).
Beginning in early childhood, Mrs. Estes generated a passion for music and has dedicated her knowledge and abilities to her students. Her professional organizations include the Texas Music Educators Association, American Music Therapy Association, Southwestern Region of the AMTA, Houston Area Suzuki Piano Association, Houston Area Suzuki Strings Association, and the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
